Vandhana and Shiv
In an ode to her late grandmother, Vandhana wanted a romantic floral look reminiscent of the saree her own grandmother wore during her wedding. We were approached with a brief for a embellished blouse and a more understated traditional saree to match. The wedding took place on location in the gardens of the Mindaburra Estate in the Hunter Valley, Australia. The final result was a crystal encrusted silk appliqué blouse and organza saree finished with the same detailing. Vandhana’s veil in silk tulle was fully hand embellished with fine detailed flowers.
Shiv was keen to go tradition with a cream sherwani for the ceremony. In response, we crafted a pure silk sherwani with hand embroidered zari and silk thread detailing all over. The trousers were made in our chanderi silk and his safa (turban) was hand tied. Our team recommended a fine Rajasthani Kota silk fabric that was easy to tie and added a more softer finish than a traditional muslin fabric. To compliment the sherwani, we created chanderi silk stole finished with a gold border in a shade lighter.
For the evening, Vandhana wore her wedding veil and changed from saree to a cream silk lehenga skirt featuring the same silk appliqué flowers around her waist on pure silk.
